These Luxurious Ballpark Foods Are A Home Run

We’ve certainly come a long way from the regular hot dog and beer combo!

Whether you’re a Mets fan, a Yankees fan, or just a fan of food in general, everyone knows the magic of a perfectly-charred hot dog, a cool glass of beer, and a good game. Still, the definition of “stadium food” has evolved greatly since the good ol’ days of peanuts and Cracker Jacks, and a baseball game nowadays can be both a sports fan and foodie paradise.

While some baseball fans prefer the tried-and-true hot dog and cola, some are in search of more luxurious foods like gourmet burgers and fresh sushi. Listed below are just a few of the unexpected and extravagant foods offered at New York’s famous ballparks. You may be surprised to see just how much stadium food has evolved!

Bash Burger

Citi Field wants to kick regular burgers up a notch! Bash Burger’s “The Bash” is a two-patty burger piled high with crispy onion rings, bacon jam, shaved pickles, American cheese, and a secret sauce you’ll be dying to recreate yourself. The barbeque-smoked bun makes for a wholesome, summery bite that’s ideal for a hot day at the game. This burger swaps lettuce, tomato, and onions for more flavor-intensive toppings, and we couldn’t be happier that it does. After all, a little showmanship makes the game more exciting!

Jersey Mike’s Subs

We can’t forget the crowd-favorite cheesesteak! #17 Jersey Mike’s Subs Famous Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich is grilled fresh to order with premium steak, peppers, onions, and melted white American cheese. A cheesesteak is such a Philadelphia staple, you probably didn’t expect to see it on this list–but Jersey’s Mike’s cheesesteak is famous for a reason, right? Who knows–maybe cheesesteak will become the new stadium staple.

King’s Hawaiian Offerings

Bring some tropical goodness into your life by getting food at King’s Hawaiian Offerings. The Original Sweet Pineapple BBQ Kalua Pork Sandwich is a tantalizing combo of banana leaf-braised pork and shoyu red cabbage slaw on a King’s Hawaiian bun. You can get the same delicious pork flavors on nachos, but this time combined with shredded cheddar cheese, scallions, spicy mayo, and wonton chips. This isn’t a totally radical change from the normal BLT sandwich or anything, but the sweet ‘n savory flavors offered at King’s Hawaiian are just unexpected enough to leave you with a memorable food experience.

Fried Cookie DŌ by Big Mozz and DŌ

You know a snack is good when it takes two companies to make it, so you can’t miss the Fried Cookie DŌ by Big Mozz and at Citi Field. It’s perfectly fried and crispy on the outside with the gooiest, sweetest cookie dough center with chocolate chips and rainbow cake batter. If all we knew about this dessert was that it was “fried”, “crispy”, “gooey”, and “sweet”, it would have already been a winner. Knowing that it’s a DŌ creation makes it all even sweeter, especially since DŌ offers tons of other cookie creations, including DŌ’s exclusive Mets-themed chocolate-chip cookie dough dessert with fitting orange and blue sprinkles.

Yankee Stadium’s Gourmet Shakes

Everyone hopes that they’ll somehow catch a foul ball to take home at a baseball game, and with Yankee Stadium’s Gourmet Shakes, you get a guaranteed (and more realistic!) souvenir of a tall cup emblazoned with the NY Yankee’s symbol, courtesy of the stadium’s Gourmet Freakshakes! These extravagant shakes are truly marvelous: The Pinstripe Shake is send-off to classic ballpark snacks with its sweet toppings of cotton candy, Cracker Jacks, and a churro. The Celebration Shake is another fun shake with birthday cake frosting and Funfetti vanilla cupcakes. These shakes are almost too Instagrammable to eat (almost!)

Haute Dog

Could we talk about iconic ballpark foods without mentioning hot dogs? Haute Dog brings the typical hot dog to the next ~classier~ level with the Bases Loaded Dog, which combines a footlong hot dog with cheddar fondue, applewood smoked bacon and green onion. It’s definitely a fancier twist on everyone’s favorite stadium snack, and the melted cheese with the smoky applewood bacon is a truly amazing flavor pairing, especially when matched with the crunchy green onions. Talk about taking a hot dog “with all the fixings” to the next level!

Bareburger

Bareburger is known for its commitment to using fresh, organic, responsible and sustainable ingredients free of pesticides and GMOs, so you know it’s gotta be good. For the health-conscious baseball fans there’s the Beyond Sausage, which is vegan sausage topped with pickled jalapenos and caramelized onions on a pretzel roll. Of course, you can’t go wrong with The Standard, a burger made with organic beef, American cheese, dill pickles, and special sauce on a brioche bun. We love a health-conscious burger joint and Bareburger makes sticking to your diet a hundred times easier, especially when you’re surrounded by cotton candy, hot dogs, and alcohol!

La Newyorkina and the Jim Bean Bourbon Bar

Yes, it wouldn’t be a baseball game without some alcohol, and Citi Field has got you covered. They, of course, offer all kinds of beers, but what is not so expected is their vast collection of cocktails and cocktail-infused desserts. La Newyorkina’s  Mexican Water Paletitas with pink limeade, mixed berries, and white sangria are the fruity, boozy ice pop-like desserts of your dreams, and the Jim Bean Bourbon Bar is the place to go to drown your sports-related sorrows in some whiskey.

City Winery Wine Bar

Yankee Stadium, like Citi Field, has your back when it comes to booze. A stand-out beer option is the NY Pinstripe Pilsner which is available exclusively at Yankee Stadium. It’s brewed with a generous amount of Pilsner Malt and Motueka hops. It’s a crisp, refreshing drink–if the game itself doesn’t get your blood pumping, then this drink will! If you’re looking for a more refined ballpark experience, City Winery Wine Bar at Yankee Stadium is the place to go! It features locally-produced and award-winning selections from City Winery in NYC as well as Yankees-branded wines.
