After a day of family bonding over at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, enjoy a flavorful family-centric meal over at Taheni Mediterranean Grill! If you couldn’t already tell, family is everything at Taheni, something bklyner.com praised: “While we can’t crash a family dinner at the Deib household, having Taheni Mediterranean Grill in the neighborhood is the next best thing.” The authentic Mediterranean food is made by “Mama” Deib herself, and the family even imports olive oil straight from Massha.

The vast menu at Taheni covers every Mediterranean staple, from traditionally seasoned falafel to smoky roasted shawarma to hot-n-spicy baba-ghanoush. You can build your own platter by choosing a protein, like lamb shawarma, a side dish, like the house pita bread, and a grain, such as white rice. If you’re a little intimidated by the spiciness of Mediterranean food, then the House Salad is the vibrant and leafy dish for you, complete with tomatoes, cucumbers, red cabbage, lettuce, onions, and your choice of protein, such as chicken. You can even add on a dollop of hummus, a sprinkling of chickpeas, or a couple of olives for some added flavor. You can also make your own grain bowls and wraps, each option including Taheni’s house dips and signature sauce.

It wouldn’t be spring without some sweet and satisfying desserts, and Taheni has the Mediterranean delights you’ve been waiting for all winter! There’s the Kunafeh, the cheese-filled pastry that’s featured on Yelp’s list of the “best kunafeh in New York,” as well as the popular Baklava, a delicious dessert pastry made with layers of crispy phyllo filled with chopped nuts. This makes us wonder, is there a better way to end a day of sightseeing than with a light slice of baklava?

Want to eat at a burger joint lauded by the likes of Joe Jonas and world-renowned chef José Andrés? Then stop by Black Iron Burger, the all-natural, certified-humane restaurant that José Andrés calls the home of his “favorite burger in New York, maybe the best in the USA.” The New York Times even calls Black Iron’s burgers “succulent and meaty, substantial and indulgent,” while Insider claims that “Black Iron Burgers serves the best burgers in the state of New York.” Long story short: Black Iron Burger cannot be missed!

Black Iron offers classic American fare with some dishes inspired by the Mediterranean, an example of this flavor-blending being the Spicy Adobo Chicken Fries served with homemade barbeque sauce. Of course, the burgers are what you’ve been waiting for, and you can’t go wrong with The Black Iron, a double 4 oz. patty with radish cheddar, stout caramelized grilled onions, and special horseradish mayo. The Masterpiece burger is exactly what it sounds like–it’s a masterpiece of flavors thanks to ingredients such as Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, an organic fried egg, and applewood smoked bacon.

For those trying to stay away from red meat, try the zesty Salmon Burger. Made with a 5 oz. homemade salmon patty, dill butter, roasted tomatoes, alfalfa sauce, and a tangy teriyaki sauce, it’s the leaner but still tasty option. You can even make your own veggie burger, proving once again that everyone can enjoy a classic burger at Black Iron!

Don’t worry, Black Iron Burger didn’t forget about dessert! There’s the fudgy chocolate brownie topped with vanilla ice cream, caramel syrup, and whipped cream, as well as the classic malted shakes which come in flavors like chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. But seriously, folks–this place has garnered so many rave reviews, is there a better way to end your spring day than with a classic burger?
