Pit Stops: Best NYC Restaurants Near Subway Stations

MTA delays can be a real bummer.  Yet even worse is being trapped on a packed subway car, stuck in one of the hundreds of tunnels that make up the underground labyrinth that is the New York City transit system.  More often than not, you’re better off ditching the crowd and walking back up to the street and ducking out into a local restaurant. Well here’s a list of some of our favorite NYC restaurants near subway stops where you can kick back and leave the stress down on the platform where it belongs.

Amor Cubano

2018 Third Avenue, New York City, NY, 10029

(1.5 blocks away from the 110th Street station off the 6 train)

Next time you’re riding the 6 train on your way to the Bronx to catch a Yankee game, save yourself a few bucks at the stadium by hopping off the subway car at the 110th street stop and head around the corner to Amor Cubano for a bite.  This local spot in Spanish Harlem is cozy and comfortable, with a nice sized bar opposite a charming exposed brick wall.  You can’t go wrong with a classic and authentic Cubano sandwich, but their menu offers so much more. Every dish is beautifully plated and colorful, exploring a color palate as vibrant and diverse as the locals that fill this neighborhood gem.  They have amazing happy hour specials and offer live Cuban music a couple nights a week. Feel free to put that subway stress to rest with one of their signature mojitos!
